Our Purpose

Friends of Pittville is a volunteer-led charity whose aim is to improve and protect Pittville’s unique environment and heritage for everyone to enjoy.

With over 300 active members, we organise a range of community and fundraising events, produce a regular newsletter, and support major projects to enhance Pittville Park and the surrounding areas. We have various groups of volunteers, including Green Space volunteers , who help to maintain Pittville Park and the other green spaces, and Pittville History Works volunteers, who research and publish information about Pittville’s heritage.

It’s easy to become a member (and no, you don’t have to live in Pittville to join us!)

Our three key guiding principals are:

Preserve

Protect Pittville’s heritage through research and restoration.

Conserve

Promote biodiversity and support local wildlife.

Cultivate

Build an inclusive community culture and help maintain spaces for everyone to enjoy.

Our Projects

Thanks to our donors, partners, members and volunteers, Friends of Pittville have undertaken and significantly contributed to many successful projects to enhance our local area, support wildlife, preserve local history, restore historic landmarks and bring our community together. These include:

  • The Restoration of Pittville Gates
  • Refurbishing the aviaries
  • Developing the children’s play area
  • Reinstalling Pittville Park steps
  • Achieving Green Heritage Site accreditation
  • Building a sensory garden.
