On 30 September, the mayor of Cheltenham, Dr David Willingham, came to the park to officially open the Sensory Garden in front of the aviaries and unveil the carving of ‘Quirky’ by sculptor Natasha Houseago.
He paid tribute to volunteers in Cheltenham’s parks and spoke of the importance of the partnership between CBC and FoP over the last 15 years in producing many significant improvements to Pittville Park. We thank him for attending.
And, of course, we thank all those who played a part in making the project a success. The beds themselves will need time to settle in and will come into their own in the spring and summer. We also hope there will be lots of activity in the bug hotels too, and that visitors will enjoy engaging with the plants, the birds, the rabbits … and Quirky!
