We are delighted to announce that Friends of Pittville have been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, which has been announced today in the London Gazette.
The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS) is the highest award given to UK volunteer groups, being equivalent to the MBE.
This is a great honour for us and is recognition for the work done by our group over the last eleven years. All our volunteers – Green Space, Pittville History Works, newsletter deliverers, committee members, helpers at events and others – have contributed towards our gaining this award, together with the support of our members over the years.
We will be presented with the award by the Lord Lieutenant, Dame Janet Trotter, and the arrangements for this will be publicised in due course.
We were pleased to be nominated by Cheltenham Borough Council, with whom we have worked closely for many years now.
